Comment: This view from the helicopter gives you an idea of the desolation of the Arctic tundra. It is all very flat and there are lots of shallow pools of water at this time of year.

050 Moose and tracks * Believe it or not, there is a moose at the end of the arrow. You can see his tracks through the snow. This picture was taken from a helicopter and the pilot just couldn't hold still enough for me to get a good picture. * 2048 x 1536 * (363KB)

056 Dog Sled 1 * NThis is the dog team that gave us a sample dog sled ride. * 1600 x 1200 * (570KB)

058 View from dog sled * This is the view from the dog sled. There are actually 11 dogs pulling a sleigh on wheels that holds 11 people. * 2048 x 1536 * (563KB)

059 Dog Sled 22 dogs * The sled I was riding on broke part way through the trip, so there were 22 dogs hitched to one sled for the ride home. * 1600 x 1200 * (558KB)
